Test useful fitness
Lifting, carrying, rowing, skiing, pushing and getting off the floor—the work is functional on purpose.
DEKA at TFW Doylestown
TFW Doylestown is an official DEKA affiliate and has hosted DEKA Strong and DEKA Mile events in Plumsteadville. Train for the zones, establish your mark and come back ready to beat it.
What is Spartan DEKA?
DEKA means ten. Each event uses the same ten functional zones to test strength, endurance and work capacity. Your finishing time becomes your DEKA Mark—a baseline you can train against, retest and improve. DEKA doesn’t replace the TFW system; it gives that system a measurable target.
Lifting, carrying, rowing, skiing, pushing and getting off the floor—the work is functional on purpose.
The test stays consistent, so a better DEKA Mark shows that your training is actually moving forward.
A future test gives strength and conditioning a reason without making every workout a mock competition.
Choose your challenge
Start with the version that matches your current goal. The zones stay consistent; the amount of running changes. That makes DEKA approachable for a first-timer and brutally honest for an experienced athlete.
The purest test of functional strength and work capacity, completed indoors without running between zones.
Run 160 meters before each zone. It adds one mile of running while keeping the same standardized movements.
Run 500 meters before each zone for a full 5K—more endurance, the same ten-zone fitness test.
The standard stays the same
The sequence covers the entire body and rewards more than brute force. Technique, pacing, strength and recovery all matter—which is exactly why coached preparation beats randomly hammering through it.

DEKA training, the TFW way
We don’t turn every session into a DEKA simulation. Strength remains the foundation. Metabolic conditioning builds the capacity to keep using it. Movement coaching, smart progressions and practice with the zones connect the two.
That gives first-timers a safe way to begin and experienced competitors a better way to improve—without forgetting that the real goal is becoming more capable for everything outside the event.
