Although its Cinco De Mayo and most people would be off celebrating in a different fashion we at Training for Warriors Doylestown want to shift the spotlight and celebrate a different kind of party. We tend to get excited about others and their accomplishments and even though Dave was our Warrior of the Month for April, it was only right we share his story today.

A truly dedicated man inside the gym and outside, Dave has consistently pushed himself day in and day out. He is always willing to help, always ready to make someone laugh, and is never one to back down from a challenge.  If the coaching staff could describe Dave in on word its supportive, whether its his wife, his kids, his job, or his familia he is always willing and able to help someone feel good about themselves.

My name is David Cobin and I am a 46 year old Senior Project Manager in the construction industry. I’ve been happily married for 19 years and I am a father to a teenage son and daughter.  I’ve also been a Plumstead township residence since 2003.

Like a lot of people my age I was really out of shape.  I felt terrible.  My wife suggested I go to a TFW class with her.  So, I started going to TFW Doylestown a little over a year ago.  It’s been 20+ years since I exercised on a regular basis.

I really had no idea how out of shape I was.  The first several weeks were tough.

I was very sore and it wasn’t easy to get motivated to go back to class, but I kept going. About 6 months in was the turning point for me.  The classes became easier and I was less sore.  I would now feel rundown if I missed a few classes.  In fact, I could see muscles on my body that I haven’t seen in a long, long time.  It was at this point that I knew TFW was the place for me.

Now it’s a year later and I absolutely love going to the gym.  I have learned a lot about training, excising, building strength and eating better. And I’ve meet some great friends.  Also, I gained the ability and courage to run my first ever 5K last summer.  Personally, this is in itself a huge accomplishment for me.  I used to hate running.  I’m now looking forward to running in several more 5K’s this year with my TFW familia.  Finally, my absolute favorite activity from last year was the Olympic charity competition that we as a group participated in.  I loved it.  It was brutally hard.  And way outside of my comfort zone. Coach Mike has a saying at the gym “get comfortable with being uncomfortable” I finally got it. I was now comfortable with being uncomfortable.  I think about those five words constantly.  They really mean alot to me.

TFW Doylestown has been a game changer for me.  It’s not just a gym. It’s a fun place with great people to help you get in shape. The coaches are fantastic.  The facility is amazing.  The music rocks!  Plus it’s a lot of fun.  I’m very proud to be apart of the TFW Familia.
